Ranger — the dog behind the name

"This isn't a kennel. It's a homestead, a family, and a promise that your dog goes home better than they arrived."

— Sean, Owner & Lead Caregiver

Who We're For

Not every dog needs a warehouse. Yours deserves a home.

We keep capacity intentionally low so every dog gets real attention — not just supervision.

Working families

Long days happen. Your dog will have a full day of enrichment, not a long day of waiting.

Anxious owners

You'll know your dog's day — who they played with, how they ate, what made them happy.

Dogs who need space

Not every dog thrives in a crowd. We have the acreage, the time, and the patience to meet them where they are.

The Story

Named after a dog. Built for all of them.

Ranger's Retreat started with a tan dog named Ranger and over 12 years of professional canine care experience. After serving in the military and spending more than a decade working with dogs in every kind of facility, I knew there had to be a better way.

Most daycares are built for volume. Ours is built for your dog. We run a low-capacity, family-operated homestead in Swansea where every dog gets the same care we give our own — because that's the only standard we know.

My wife, our kids, our own dogs, and our goats are part of this too. When you drop your dog off here, you're dropping them into a working family homestead, not a commercial kennel.

"The kind of gentle you can't train. The kind of place you can trust."

Small by design.

We cap enrollment intentionally. Every dog on our property has a name, a history, and a caregiver who knows both.

When things go sideways

The Upset Stomach Protocol

Every dog has an off day. Here's exactly what we do — in order — before we ever call you.

1

Isolation and observation. Calm environment, fresh water, no pressure.

2

Try their regular kibble. Familiar is almost always the right first move.

3

Warm beef broth if kibble is refused. Gentle and almost always welcome.

4

Rice and plain hot dog. The universal dog comfort meal, made fresh.

5

A calm text to you — not a panicked call — explaining what we tried and what's next.

The Meet & Greet

Interview day is always free.

Every new dog gets a full day to explore, meet the pack, and settle in — at no charge. If it's not the right fit that day, your dog stays with us, loved and cared for, while we build a plan to get them there.

We call it the Path to the Pack — a personalized plan for every dog that needs more time.

Always

What never changes.

Honesty. Transparency. Consistency. Photo ID required for every pickup — no exceptions — because your dog's safety isn't negotiable. Text first, always. No unnecessary interruptions to your day.

The Difference

Not your typical daycare.

Most facilities

  • 30–80 dogs per day
  • Rotating, unfamiliar staff
  • Generic daily report (if any)
  • Emergency pickup required if dog fails evaluation
  • Indoor kennels overnight
  • You hope for the best

Ranger's Retreat

  • 10 dogs max per day
  • Same family, every single day
  • Real updates because we actually know your dog
  • Free full-day evaluation — no panic pickups
  • In-home overnight stays
  • You know exactly what's happening

Small enough to care. Experienced enough to trust.
